This year the Icares of Cinema welcomes the Zakopane Mountain Film Festival
The 15th Mountain Film Meetings Festival takes place on 5 - 8 September 2019.
The international mountain film competition and outdoor activities in the stunning Tatra Mountains are the focal themes, along with the European Championship (B) - Zakopane (POL).
Over 30 films from 16 countries will be screened in competition – films will be judged by three independent panels: main Jury, the Young filmmakers Jury and Youth Jury. Join discussions with Himalayan climbers and journalists about the history, present and future of K2, as well as meetings with the Tatra Mountains Rescue Team in the occasion of 110-anniversary of the organization. Together with a group of specialists, you can try to solve the mystery of an unexplained tragedy that happened in the Tatras at the beginning of the 20th century. Guest can also participate in a mountain trail run with the panorama of the Western Tatras and the Mountain Academy with elements of climbing, first aid and navigation.
Joins us in the Tatras and meet with the producers and actors of "Broad Peak" (2020) by Leszek Dawid. The film tells the story of Maciej Berbeka, who was the first person in the world to have reached 8000 meters in winter in Karakoram - Rocky Summit (8028 m) back in 1988. This occurred exactly 25 years to the day before he was reported missing on Broad Peak in 2013. We invite you also to the screening of "K2. The Last Mountain” by Darek Załuski and meeting with the film’s heroes. The films tells the story of Polish expedition on K2, the last Himalayan peak unconquered in winter.
For the first time during our festival, the European Boulder Championship will be organized as one of the most important climbing events in Europe in 2019!
The program of the event will be filled with numerous premieres of fascinating mountain films about sports, nature, culture and human rights, as well as special screenings of unique archive films. The screenings will be accompanied by meetings with the directors and discussion panels.

Zakopane Mountain Film Festival has selected the following program :
1/ No trace Tatra
Filmaker : Bartek Solik.
Duration : 32 mn.
A documentary film showing the beauty of Tatra mountains (Poland and Slovakia, Europe) and threats of negative civilisation impact. A renowned traveller and ecologist, Marek Kamiński takes a hike around Tatras to show how humans, including tourists, make an impact on their surroundings. The goal of the filmaker is to promote ”leave no trace and zero waste” conception – to touch the Nature without leaving any unnecessary trace. The film shows how, each one of us can in our everyday life, including holiday, minimize our impact on surroundings and reduce our influence on the wildlife.
2/ Still Flying... (Jeszcze lecimy...)

The film presents the Polish Grandpa, named Jeszcze lecimy, 91 years old paraglider, who has no intention of giving up and who is fulfilling one dream after another !
